East Side Institute Volunteer Opportunities

The East Side Institute is seeking volunteers to join a committed group of long-time volunteer organizers and staff members to expand and promote the Institute’s mission to give play, performance and development to the world. Our team creates, organizes, and produces our virtual online courses, study programs, and international events, that help to re-ignite the kind of human creativity, performance and developmental play we so desperately need to transform the world.

The Institute has volunteer opportunities for the following:

Website and Social Media – Description

The East Side Institute hosts and runs several websites and social media platforms. Volunteers will work alongside our web team to review and edit content, post articles and announcements. It’s a great way for anyone studying the social therapeutic approach to become familiar with the library of articles, videos and books illustrating a performatory psychology of becoming.

Zoom Jockey – Requirements

As a Zoom Jockey (ZJ) you’ll be part of a technology production team that assists in producing Zoom virtual events held by the East Side Institute (ESI). 

ZJs work together as a team to do the following: host and record the meetings, share screens, spotlight speakers, create breakout rooms, admit people to the meeting, use the chat function to communicate with participants, share videos, slides, and music. 

You don’t need to be an expert on hosting Zoom meetings to be part of this team, because the ZJ team is like a community, a place where you can develop together with other ZJs. So, to be part of this team, you need to:

  • be open to working with people from different places in the world;
  • be curious to learn new things;
  • be proactive, committed, and take responsibility;
  • be flexible to adapt to team projects;
  • participate in weekly group meetings; and
  • have initiative and enjoy laughing

We have regular meetings to talk about the agenda, share the functions, test the tools, and clarify any doubts.

Database & Application Administrator / Analyst – Requirements

This position will assist in advancing and maintaining the Institute’s sales and contact database, including advancing data quality, modifying, and developing new workflows and new workflow automation for Institute sales and event staff, and advancing our capabilities to support a growing global volunteer staff. The Administrator/Analyst will work with our current lead system administrator to provide support to the Institute’s broader team around event/product & contact management, including registration, attendance, marketing, sales, and fundraising activities as well as data analytics to target and identify new possible approaches to Institute activities.

This is a great opportunity to get involved at pretty much any level you’re interested in and is a chance to play with everything from database structures to application development, to data analysis, to data strategy, to sales and operational process consulting and workflow development.

Experience

Required: Some experience (1-3 years) with managing or developing relational databases (SQL, etc. – can be coursework), a tolerance for (and interest in) the detailed attention required to manage data, database and application software development and support for the long-haul, and an interest in a long-term role (minimum 1 year) building and supporting a data management application.

Desired: An interest in new experiences and advancing our technical capabilities in supporting a volunteer staff working to advance the global mission of the East Side Institute.
